C O L O U R, i have always struggled with… using experimental techniques like dripping, spraying and painting outside the lines makes my fear of colour easier to deal with.
Experimenting with colour… Some birds in a tree, made with fineliners and gouche.
My version of the French Toile - but more of a British Farmyard Modern Toile. This design is in a 5-spot repeat and looks good in lots of colourways. I have used my own drawn imagery. Shown here in a red and dark blue…
A French Toile de Jouy or, “Toile” is a pattern showing a complex scene. Usually done in a single colour on a pale linen. This fabric is a traditional example of the french pattern.

These are some of my drawings i will develop in photoshop, all images were drawn from images in a book of The Scottish Countryside. I am hopefull these drawings will work well in a five spot repeat.

I took this photograph one winter morning will having a cigarette in the morning. I reminded me of the type of subject, US artist Andrew Wyeth would paint or draw. I must get round to drawing this.
